Challenge

On May 28-29, 2025, the town of Mokwa experienced devastating floods due to heavy rainfall and the collapse of a nearby dam. This disaster resulted in over 200 deaths, with more than 500 individuals reported missing and at least 121 injured. The floods submerged the town, destroying over 3,000 houses, including 265 that were completely demolished. Critical infrastructure such as bridges and roads were washed away, isolating communities and hindering rescue efforts. Farmlands were also destroyed

Solution

This project will provide emergency relief to 150 families affected by the May 28-29, 2025, floods in Mokwa, Niger State, Nigeria. It will supply essential items like food, shelter materials, hygiene kits, and basic medical care, including wound treatment and rescue support. Additionally, the project will support community efforts to reduce the impact of future floods through awareness and preparedness activities. Mokwa communities urgently need immediate and long-term assistance.

Long-Term Impact

This project aims to create lasting improvements in Mokwa, Niger State Nigeria, by helping families rebuild their lives and preparing the community for future floods. By providing emergency supplies, temporary shelter, and basic medical care, we address immediate needs. Additionally, through community education and preparedness activities, we aim to reduce the impact of future floods.
