In the Democratic Republic of Congo, children with disabilities continue to face barriers that no child should have to overcome alone. Poverty, stigma, limited access to healthcare, inadequate educational facilities, and the high cost of assistive equipment often prevent children from learning, participating, and reaching their full potential. Our project, “Assisting 20 Disabled Children in the DRC,” was created to respond to these challenges by supporting 20 children with disabilities and their families through access to specialized equipment, healthcare, inclusive education, psychosocial support, and community awareness.
We are currently in the preparation and mobilization phase, including the identification of qualified trainers and potential learners who will participate in the project. Our fundraising target is $15,000, and so far, $2 has been raised through our collaboration with GlobalGiving. While this is only the beginning, it represents something important: a first step toward creating real opportunities for children who are too often left behind. With the support and global reach of GlobalGiving, we believe we can bring this campaign to a wider community of caring donors and move steadily toward our fundraising goal.
The funds raised will help us provide practical support tailored to the children's needs, strengthen their access to education and healthcare, support families, and promote greater acceptance of children with disabilities within their communities. The project is designed not only to respond to immediate needs, but also to create lasting change by helping children become more independent and giving families greater capacity to support them. Every contribution, whatever its size, can help turn a need into an opportunity and a child’s exclusion into inclusion.
