II meeting of leaders of organized civil society in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Dear Supporters:

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Organization of American States (OAS) and the International Labor Organization (ILO) held the second Regional Meeting of Women Leaders of the Venezuelan Diaspora in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The event, which brought together 33 women leaders from 11 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, is organized by the Office of the Special Envoy of the IOM Director General for the Regional Response to Venezuelan Mixed Flows and the Department of Social Inclusion of the Secretariat of Access to Rights and Equity of the General Secretariat of the OAS, with the endorsement of the OAS School of Government.

The meeting contributes to improving advocacy actions and the capacities of the leaders of Venezuelan diaspora organizations in host countries, through the strengthening of leadership skills to promote an agenda of inclusion and rights of migrants and refugees. , and for social participation at the national and regional level, from a gender and diversity approach.

Topics such as the socioeconomic integration of Venezuelan migrant and refugee women, leadership and communication tools for change and social participation of diasporas, and the design and implementation of advocacy actions by Venezuelan diaspora organizations on gender issues were part of the workshops given by experts from the IOM, OAS, ILO, UN Women, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the Quito Process, among others.

The Regional Meeting is carried out thanks to the financial support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
