“Fresh bread from Children Are Us! Come take a look!”
Whenever I hear this enthusiastic call, I know it must be our fundraising pro, Yuli (alias), passionately promoting our goods.
I still remember my first day working at the Minsheng store. When I learned that I would have to take our colleagues with intellectual disabilities out for a fundraising event on my own, I felt extremely nervous and anxious. A coworker reassured me, “Don’t worry! You’re just going with Yuli. If you have any questions, just ask her—she can teach you!”
With a mix of doubt and worry, I headed out with Yuli, taking the bus together. At the bus stop, I anxiously asked which bus to take and in which direction. Yuli patiently explained everything to me.
When we arrived at the fundraising venue, Yuli navigated everything like a pro—swiping the access card, moving the tables from the meeting room, setting up the display, selling products, and finally cleaning up and packing everything away. She walked me through each step with care and patience, teaching me exactly what to do. It turned out that all my worries beforehand were unnecessary. In fact, it wasn’t me taking Yuli out for the event—it was Yuli who was leading me, a complete newcomer, through the experience.
Thanks to sweet and meticulous Yuli, I didn’t feel lost or overwhelmed during my first fundraising event. Instead, I felt completely reassured and supported.
I’m truly grateful to Yuli for helping me adapt so quickly to my new job environment, and for making my work at the store so much smoother. We warmly welcome everyone to stop by the Minsheng store and say hello to Yuli—my incredible partner, both mentor and friend.
