In 2020, the International Community Foundation's Barbuda Resiliency Fund made a general opperations grant of 24k (usd) to the BarbudaGo team for ongoing capacity building and institutional strengthening. With a vision to energize community to continue to be progressive, adaptive, vibrant and resilient, the BarbudanGo team continues to advance their work on the island.
Activities in 2020 focused on mitigating COVID-19. BarbudanGO partnered with like minded community groups to launch the #stopthespreadtogether campaign. Together with the Be Foundation, Antigua and Barbuda Red Cross (Barbuda Branch), Barbuda Channel along with Barbuda Local Council, the collaboration supported the local health institution, provided for the most vulnerable, energised and informed the community and focused on making the community feel safe, protected, connected, and comfortable.
"BarbudanGO truly believes that establishing relationships with partners who hold compatible core values is key to building the necessary strengths and the camaraderie needed to grow as an organisation, incite vision, and serve. That is why the GO team welcomes our new volunteer core and new partners who have joined us to enhance barbudanGO's visibility - locally and internationally - to establish an operational base in 2021 and implement our five year strategic plan to action the five pillars of community: culture, history, education, environmental preservation and disaster mitigation."
The International Community has been a proud partner of this work and will continue to support the BarbudanGo team in their efforts to strengthen community for Barbuda. We are especially excited to see that BarbudanGO has made a committment to become a more climate-smart and green-friendly organisation in keeping with Barbuda’s incredibly unique and much loved natural environment.
Thank you to the GlobalGiving network for your ongoing support to local nonprofits of Barbuda! The International Community Foundation has been able to leverage your contributuons into even more support for local organizations and we will continue to do so.
Help us keep Barbuda strong!
