Mr Christmas
At Be Enriched, we LOVE Christmas
and this year we'd love to enjoy it minus the sorry head.
We reccommend you take regular walks, streaches, naps and sleeps inbetween eating and heres a lovely recipie for non-alcholic mulled wine.
If you like it, then please donate to our cause in this month of giving.
Ingredients
- 250g brown sugar
- 2 oranges, cut into slices (you can also use lemon, lime as well)
- 6 whole cloves
- 1 tbsp ground allspice
- 2 cinnamon sticks,
- 2tsp ground nutmeg
- 5cm fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
- 750ml non-alcoholic red wineor non-alcholic cider
-
Simmer gently to reduce by half.
-
Leave to cool, then strain through very fine muslin twice before bottling. Don’t worry about the finished syrup being slightly cloudy – this is normal and won’t show up once you heat it with the wine and fruit.
-
To serve, reheat the syrup with the non-alcoholic red wine and citrus slices.
Seasonings and Greetings from all of us at Be Enriched!

Back to school
By Kemi Akinola | Project leaders
We've started working with high needs children in schools this year.
Cooking is theraputic and requires concentration as well delivering a lovely meal to eat at the end. Children love this! Especially children with high educational needs wh struggle in regular education. So we're delivering a series of workshops for these kids who need a little extra support.
As a follow up to our summer schools project we're hoping to deliver another set of activities for children who miss school meals over the half term. So thanks for those who donated.
Here's one of the children's favourites from the summer for you to try with your kids at home:
Chicken nuggets
Ingredients:
- 2 Chicken Breasts, cut into cubes or strips
- Milk
- Plain Flour
- 1 garlic clove finely chopped and 2 sprigs of parsley finely chopped

Half way through the year
By Kemi Akinola | Manager
We're halfway through the year and our work shows no sign of slowing down or being needed.
With Brexit negotiations ramping up and down all the time, the future of access to food has never been more uncertain.
At Be Enriched, we've been taking a good hard look at our services and the social impact it has on the people we work with. So were undergoing innovation and programme re-design.
We'll be delivering Cooking classes and workshops alongside our traditional canteens to equip people with the skills to feed themselves on a budget way after we've broken away from the European union. Working with our local communities we'll be investing in working with allotments and gardeners to provide localised access to limited foods grown on the door step, in some cases, quite literally.
Please help us to deliver this vision for the future by supporting us over the next 6 months.
In the meantime our School holiday hunger project kicks off next week....
