For thousands of years, growing up involves rituals and traditions that help teenagers gain confidence and feel proud of their achievements.
In the UK, the School Prom is a rite of passage for many teenagers, signifying the end of the school and a way of celebrating their educational achievements.
84% of teenagers, diagnosed with cancer, are forced to step away from education as they face treatment for their diagnosis – the School Prom is a Rite that they miss out on!
So, for the teenagers and young adults who join us for our Annual Activity Stay, the Celebration Dinner, on the last evening of the Stay, acknowledges and celebrates all that they young people achieve in that week.
It becomes our very own, Prom. And, in true prom style, everyone has the chance to dress up and be pampered. We have booked local beauticians, nail techs and stylists to come and support the young people as they get ready for a night of celebration.
We are so excited for this and can’t wait to share the details with you when we provide our next update.
In the meantime, to everyone who has supported this project, we thank you. You are improving the lives of teenagers and young adults living with and beyond cancer.
