This project will support the operations cost for Fatoumata. If she does not get the operation, Fatoumata will go blind.
Fatoumata is a 12 year old orphan living in Mali. Her mother died when she was only 10. Her father supports a family of 10 on only $20/month salary. ACFA has provided the health care services for Fatoumata since 2010. This year Fatoumata was diagnosed with nuclear cataract, and Pigmentary Retinal Degeneration. There are no medical facilities in Africa that can support Fatoumata's operations. If Fatoumata does not receive these operations, she will go blind.
We can only save Fatoumata's eye sight by having her be evacuated to either Europe or the U.S. We have secured an appointment for Fatoumata at the Hospital Necker in Paris for the month of November 2013. Her first operation will take place on the 7th, and the 2nd on the 13th. While Fatoumata brothers have both gone blind, this project will support the operations of Fatoumata so she can escape losing her eye sight.
By securing her eye sight, Fatoumata will have the opportunity to continue school, get an education and be able to have a normal life like other children. If we can save at least one of the family children from becoming blind, we will give the whole family hope for a better future.
