Help Cancer Patients Find Bone Marrow Donors!

Diana is only 5, and already she is facing cancer for the second time in her life.  In April 2020, her life changed forever when she was diagnosed with blood cancer.  Her family immediately took her to a hospital in her native Kazakhstan's capital city, where the fight for her life began.  Diana's initial treatment resulted in good response, but some indications of chromosomal abnormalities persisted.  In 2021, Diana's family took for for a consultation to Turkey.  There, her treatment was extended beyond standard protocol and she was switched to a newer generation medication.  

In 2023, Diana completed her treatment and her family was finally able to return home. For two years, she underwent regular check-ups every 2–3 months, and all seemed well.

But in May 2025, Diana began coughing, lost her appetite, and her mood shifted. When she was rushed to get tests, her family's worst fears were confirmed — the cancer has returned.  The famly returned to Turkey for the second opinion, hoping the doctors in Kazakhstan were mistaken. Sadly, the results were confirmed, and Diana had to start treatment immediately.

Diana now faces 4 months of chemotherapy, followed by radiation and bone marrow transplant.  The cost of treatment in a foreign country is unaffordable to Diana's family.  And the donor search is still ongoing.  Unfortunately, Diana's brother didn't match as a donor, and her parents are only 50% matches, so it would be best to find a better matching unrelated donor.

Nikita is 4 years old and he is fighting acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He is an only child surrounded by his family's love.  Nikita has had some health issues since birth - low birth weight, hydrocephalus, low hemoglobin.  With time, he overcame them and started growing and developing in step with his peers.  But then he started displaying worrisome signs again: he began to get tired often, his tummy swelled, and bruises began to appear on his body. There were more of them every day, and Nikita was getting worse. At first, the doctors in Nikita's native Kazakhstan treated him for a cold. At one point, he started bleeding and was admitted to the intensive care unit in serious condition.  After the tests, cancer cells were detected - 79% overall, with platelets close to zero, and hemoglobin count about 40.  Nikita was urgently administered blood and platelet mass. As soon as he could be transported, his parents urgently took him to Turkey for treatrment. He was taken by ambulance from the plane to the intensive care unit of a clinic in Istanbul where the struggle for his life began.

Cancer treatment abroad costs a lot of money. Unfortunately, Nikita is in a high-risk group. Therefore, bone marrow transplantation was indicated for him. Nikita's parents managed on their own at first, but when it became apparent that transplantation was necessary, they reached out for help.  Search for an unrelated donor, harvesting of the donor's bone marrow, high-dose chemotherapy before the transplantation, and lengthy recovery period after the transplantation make this procedure very costly.  With the help of our supporters, we were able to support Nikita in his fight for his life.  Last week, Nikita underwent bone marrow transplant and is now recovering.
