Your support offers braille books to VI
By Nasreen | project Leader
Children with visual disabilities have very limited access to books. The best books for visually impaired children are of course print – Braille books or books with tactile representations of pictures. Braille is used by people who are blind or partially blind. This language requires the user to feel raised dots on a page with their fingers. A print-Braille book is one that provides both print and Braille on the same page, making it possible for a visually impaired and a normal sighted child to read from the same book. Thus, a sighted parent, sibling, friend, or teacher can read along with the child. Your philanthropic interest in making them having their own braille books is deeply appreciable and this gives rise to $8,260 through your generous donations.
Still there is inadequate funds for production and distribution of Braille Text books to our visually Challenged School Students. Currently we are circulating only minimum number of copies of a text book in a class room. So, we look forward in raising more for this cause. As always, we, along with GlobalGiving, will do our best in reaching out to generous donors across the Globe and will strive to bring happiness on the face of each of our beneficiaries.

Since its inception, IAB has educated and rehabilitated more than 25000 visually challenged children and youths mainly from rural areas. In a country with the highest incidence of Blindness in the world, IAB has been working for about 33 years in empowering people with visual challenges through education. Your philanthropic interest in making them having their own braille books is deeply appreciable and this gives rise to $8,201 through your generous donations.

Braille books for visually challenged kids
By Nasreen | Fundraising Team Leader
Braille Books in India for visually impaired children. This shall be a select collection of books for children and aims towards promoting the reading habit in the visually impaired among the rural poor. This is possible only with the availability of accessible reading material! To create and distribute such accessible material in the form of Braille Books in India, IAB has launched the "Donate for Braille Books" campaign. Your help will make this dream come true!
There are many students with visual disability and one in three of them are in IAB.The only means of basic education to these people is through Braille.
Availability of Braille books in local languages is extremely limited and is nonexistent for the rural poor. Apart from school textbooks, blind children are completely deprived of reading material. There are different story books suitable for general reading for children from class 1 to class 10. These books will be printed in Braille and distributed to the blind students in our school which are actively serving children from rural communities. Production and printing costs of a book are exorbitant.
Truthfully, we could not do this without you Global Giving! We at IAB very happy to share you that we benefited $7823. Your donation can make a difference! We and those we serve, sincerely appreciate your generosity. You are not just helping them to read braille books. You are just giving them a valued knowledge to their lives. Reading will turn a human into more confident on their knowledge and dignity. Make them more confident and effective with your donations.
