We are in a new school year in Brazil which started in February and this means that the oldest girls in the programme have moved to new schools and we now have lots of new, younger girls alongside 4th year girls from last year who are now in the 5th and final year in elementary school. As you will have read in previous reports, it is very clear how much change we are making in the girl's lives and have also heard from them about what the futsal classes mean to them. In this report we shall hear from three parents why they have enrolled their daughters in our project.
Ana Paula, one of the mothers says "i enrolled my daughter because she insisted with me that she wanted to do physical education and sports" and complemented this saying that futsal has already brought changes to her daughter at home "it's really great that she is always doing physical activities, she has become more dynamic and communicative at home." Sandra tells us about matriculating her daughter "I did so because it's her wish, right? She asked me, so I came and enrolled her. And I believe it will be very good, because she has a lot of rhinitis attacks, so I believe that, doing physical exercise, things like that, the doctor himself said it would be good for her." When asked about the benefits of participating in futsal, she added "I think physical exercise itself, in general, right? It helps a lot with your health, yes." Lastly, Vanderlei, a father, had this to say: "My daughter, she always had an interest in football. Then, as here at school, there was this opportunity, we decided to enroll her in futsal," and added "she became a more, you could say, a more active person, so her mother says something to her, she ends up obeying more and also, how can I tell you, she burned a lot of adrenaline, and normally she is a very agitated person, so in football she ended up finding herself."
It is good to see the girls demonstrating clear agency concerning participation and that their parents have listened to them and at the same time we can see that the parents see that doing sports is contributing to their daughters healthy development as well as on the emotional and behavioural front. We thank you for continuing to support this valuable project which is contributing to the girls, their families and their community as a whole,
