On December 29-30 we held our second Video Workshop for teens and the subsequent
community screening.
For 2 days, Jewish and Arab participants from Jerusalem, between the ages of 13-17, learned
together about how to produce a short documentary on their smartphones. They “trained” their
eyes to look at their surroundings and see stories, and translate these stories to the screen.
Together with 2 facilitators, they developed their storytelling, filming and editing skills, while
building new friendships from across the city.
At the end, they were divided in 2 groups to produce their own short documentaries. One group
explored the concept of “circle” in different parts of the city, and the other documented the
buildings of the Beit Safafa neighborhood.
On the end of the second day, participants screened their films in an intercultural Channukah
community event. The workshop was conducted in partnership with the Artists’ Studio in Jerusalem.
