3. Chunhui Care Home Program Story
Xiaoyu is a ten-month-old girl born with imperforate anus. Though living with this condition, she was full of curiosity about everything around her when she first arrived at the Guangzhou Chunhui Care Home. Whenever Mama Zhang, her Chunhui Mama played with her or gave her toys, Xiaoyu's eyes would always follow the toy, and she would try to grasp it on her own.
In October 2025, Xiaoyu was hospitalized for imperforate anus repair surgery after a comprehensive medical examination. On the day of the surgery, as the doctors came to take Xiaoyu to the operating room, Mama Zhang gently held Xiaoyu's hand, trying to give her strength and courage. She said softly to Xiaoyu, "Be strong, sweetheart. Mama will be right outside waiting for you. " At first, Xiaoyu kept looking into Mama Zhang's eyes and smiling. But when it was time to separate and enter into the operating room, she began to cry.
When Xiaoyu's surgery reached its fifth hour, the doctor informed Mama Zhang that Xiaoyu would need to be transferred to the ICU after the procedure. Although Mama Zhang was very nervous, she hurried to the ICU entrance to meet Xiaoyu. When Xiaoyu was wheeled out of the operating room, Mama Zhang noticed that her face was pale with an endotracheal tube. Mama Zhang felt sorry for the little girl. But when the doctor told her, "The surgery went very smoothly, and the anal reconstruction was completed in a single procedure. " Mama Zhang felt immense relief and happy for Xiaoyu.
Under Mama Zhang's attentive care, Xiaoyu recovered well and was soon returned to Guangzhou Chunhui Care Home for recovery. At Guangzhou Chunhui Care home, Xiaoyu needed to undergo anal dilation four times a day. The procedure was painful and each time when she grew visibly nervous, Mama Zhang would play her favorite children's songs to help Xiaoyu relax. Xiaoyu was brave. Even when she whimpered softly from the discomfort, she never resisted the treatment.
Currently, Xiaoyu continues her rehabilitation at the Guangzhou Chunhui Care Home. We hope that she will grow up healthy and face every challenge in life with courage in the future.
