"Where a Story Is Born, Hope Blooms"

By Denis Espinal | Director Ejecutivo

"Where a Story Is Born, Hope Blooms"
In every crayon stroke, every invented tale, every smile born between pages, there is a quiet revolution transforming lives in the Cangrejal River watershed.
The Literacy Connections program, led by Un Mundo, is not just teaching reading. It is awakening inner worlds, planting creativity, imagination, and inventiveness in children from early childhood.

Like the little ones in this image, proudly displaying their drawings and creations, we see a generation unafraid to dream or tell their own stories. Stories born from their minds and hearts—stories that will one day become proposals, solutions, and leadership.

Because when a child learns to read, they also learn to imagine. In addition, when they imagine, they are already beginning to transform the world.

However, it doesn’t end in childhood. Today, many of those children who once heard a story under a tree, who wrote their first words in our reading circles, are now young leaders directing community programs, teaching in schools, or completing their university degrees. They are living proof that sowing knowledge is sowing hope.

Endless thanks to every foundation, to every individual who believes in this cause. You are the true authors of these stories.

And if you haven’t joined yet, now is the time. Help this story reach farther: share it with your family, friends, and contacts. Spread the word. Because many more children are still waiting to open a book… and with it, the doors to their own future.

Reading doesn’t just change lives. It illuminates them.
