Challenge

Lesotho is an underdeveloped country with a population of 2.2 million faced with multiple serious challenges. Crime is very high, teenage pregnancy rate is 25.1%, 53.7% of the population is still trapped under the $1.90 poverty line, youth unemployment rate is 33.22% and HIV prevalence rate is 25%. The AIDS epidemic has created a critical disaster whereby 4900 deaths were reported in 2017. This has brought hopelessness and serious apprehension to the young disadvantaged generation in Lesotho.

Solution

The camp will host and provide activities and skills designed to challenge the youth and to teach them that obstacles in life are temporary and they are conquerable. The youth will demonstrate an ability to overcome these structured challenges that will enable them to receive an understanding that with a positive mentality then all things in life can be overcome. They will be taught to work together in order to solve some of life's challenges and that they do not need to try some things alone.

Long-Term Impact

Our motto of Mosepele Foundation Development Forum is never give a man a fish to fry instead teach him how to catch a fish. Therefore, the camp will equip 4700 youth per year to learn to fish for themselves allowing them to provide for themselves and their families. This will empower them to rise up out of the circumstances they face daily. This camp will enable new youth every year thus creating larger, long term impact on the communities and the nation. This will provide for well being of youth.
