Livity Rising, Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN) and Acupuncturists Without Borders (AWB) will provide disaster relief, recovery and support to build resilience in communities affected by disasters, environmental devastation, poverty and social injustice throughout Santa Cruz County. Services provided include acupuncture, chiropractic care, massage therapy, homeopathy and naturopathic medicine.
Chronic stress and trauma as a result of wildfire destruction and COVID-19 are on the rise in Santa Cruz, California. Farmworker communities have continued to work throughout the pandemic - helping maintain food security for millions across the US. They have been disproportionately affected by wildfires in recent years, as well as high COVID infection rates, and inadequate access to quality health and mental health care as depression rates continue to increase across the country.
Beginning in June 2021, CARE will offer free integrative health services at mobile clinics in communities throughout Santa Cruz County. Led by the Integrative Healers Action Network, Livity Rising and Acupuncturists Without Borders, services include acupuncture, massage/bodywork, chiropractic care, herbal medicine, and homeopathic consultations. These therapies help people cope with pain, stress, anxiety and depression, and enable them to regain a feeling of wellbeing and resilience.
This project will seek to provide close to 900 treatments and provide residents of Santa Cruz County with integrative health tools to improve their quality of life. It will also provide education and information to improve access to these types of healthcare services.
