In July, Eye Corps-supported a young ophthalmologist in the Mwanza Region, enabling him to perform 12 cataract surgeries for those in need in his first month in partnership with Eye Corps—each one restoring sight, hope, and independence.
As an Eye Corps–supported ophthalmologist, he now has access to essential equipment that empowers him to deliver sight-saving care where it is needed most, along with unique training opportunities. These come to life through Eye Corps Outreach Surgical Training Camps, where in March he will gain expert hands-on training and leadership skills. This experience will not only strengthen his ability to lead his own outreach efforts, but also expand access to care and restore sight for countless individuals in his region. His journey reflects Eye Corps’ enduring commitment to nurturing local talent and building a brighter, more sustainable future for eye care in Tanzania.
Thanks to your generosity, we are progressing towards our goal of providing surgery for 50 people in need. With 24% of the project funded, your continued support will help us deliver sight-saving care to more people in the communicates of sub-Saharan Africa.
