Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We truly value and appreciate you. We owe the success of our program to your partnership.

We have successfully managed to remain consistent with our feeding program because of the paramount support you give us. We have managed to maintain a constant membership for our daily feeding program where we serve 60 to 75 children during weekdays and between 150 and 250 kids during weekends... Your support has been the main pillar of support for our feeding program. We have managed to vary our menu with a few adjustments to the relish.

The hygiene lessons continue to make a huge impact on the lives of our children. Lessons on bathing properly and dental hygiene continue to be prime in our Laundry Thursdays program. Because of your continuous unwavering support, we manage to find supplies to make our lessons practical and effective. In this quarter we have managed to hold at least 2 workshops to educate female children who are growing into puberty about menstrual health and hygiene. We have also managed to get them supplies and relevant materials to meet their needs such as sanitary pads and we supplied them to all those in need of such. We are also making efforts to largely improve our dental health by holding dental workshops. We are also planning on inviting a dentist to assess and treat our children for proper dental health and dental knowledge.

Our scholarship program has progressively benefitted from your assistance. Our first school term of 2023 ran from January 6th to March 30th. We managed to pay for 28 students under our program. 18 primary school students and 10 high school students. We have also managed to provide these students with relevant stationery and school requirements. However, we still aim to pay for all our children under our program. We supply all our students with stationery, especially those in primary school in our efforts to expand the program. We also have volunteers who assist our children with extra lessons and homework among other requirements from the school as the curriculum gets more demanding.

We do not cease to appreciate your efforts as they have massively boosted our sports department. We have managed to revive all our 3 main disciplines; soccer, netball, and volleyball with aspirations of adding more disciplines to our list. We have resumed our training programs and sports days so as to explore our children’s talents and skills. In this quarter we have held 1 tournament and 3 sports days. In all these events, our teams participated and did very well. There is a huge improvement in our children’s sporting skills. We also managed to buy new equipment for our soccer teams. Such equipment as bibs, cones, balls, and nets for volleyball. We also fixed the goalposts for the netball team. All these achievements are a result of your support.

Our Home school has become more and more advanced as we keep on adding more material. We have designed a small center for learning as well as a mini library for our children to do after-school lessons, research, and homework. Our numbers have increased as our children and the community continue to engage in this program. We have volunteers who assist children in their various studies and subjects. Our volunteers are relevant at each level of education and they assist our children with relation to the relevance of their syllabuses and curriculums. We have made additions to the library through some book campaigns. Through your support, we have managed to add furniture in our library as well. We have also added some toys and coloring books to educate our toddlers. We equip our volunteers with educational topics relevant to the children’s learning and some life skills lessons too, to teach and groom our children for the future.

Due to changes in the settlement housing the children (the government has recently constructed a new parliament close by and a new cyber city is going to be constructed near there too- the orphaned and vulnerable children we are serving are going to be uprooted suddenly any time after our July to August elections), we approached Darwendale Rural Council for land for purposes of constructing a home, a school, a vocational training center. The aim is to take the assessed children through primary and high school then teach them a skill before releasing them into society. A 5-ha piece of land has since been identified and we have been urged to start construction as soon as early May 2023 to demonstrate seriousness and ability. We want to start off with houses to put the kids and house mothers in, then a few blocks of classrooms in that order. This is a mammoth task given the very short time frame. We need all our partners’ hands on deck if we are to get this started.

Our attention too is currently on the approaching winter season April to August, we need winter wear, and blankets for firstly the critical 15 (we call them the top 15) then the 45. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In this quarter, we have introduced environmental campaigns. This is where we educate our children about their relationship with the environment and why it is important to take good care of it. We then go on to do these things practically; cleaning up, picking up litter, landscaping as well as nurturing and planting new plants. We also educate them on global warming and climate change as well as the types of weather. We are yet to do workshops and invite experts on environmental health in order to educate us some more as far as the environment is concerned.

We are still working on establishing ourselves for Digital Literacy in 2023. We have bought the tablets but the rollout is yet to begin. I hope that in the next quarter.  We have seen it as an essential requirement for our children to adapt to how the world is evolving and moving away from analog systems. We are planning to set up a virtual on-the-go digital library with 7 mobile tablets for practical lessons. We aim to add a few desktops in our mobile library to habitat digital literacy. We are working on a relevant teaching curriculum and well-equipped volunteering staff to tackle this new task, especially at our new base in Darwendale.

Clearly, your support has made a great impact and change in our organization. You remain by our side through it all and keep us going. We value your assistance hoping that the relationship keeps on going as we still have a lot to accomplish together. We remain vigilant in changing communities through sport as it is our main cause. Once again, thank you for helping us transform lives.
