Dear Supporters,
While many aspects of everyday life are getting back to pre-pandemic normality, schools are still closed and classes are still being offered (when possible) online. It goes without saying that, in a developing country like Peru, where income inequality is extremely high and the access to technology and the Internet is very unequal, this represent a great challenge for children from low-income households. In most of them, the only channel children and adolescents have to take part in online classes is their parents' mobile phone, meaning that when adults are out working they are left with no options.
Thanks to a donation from the Ford Fund and the support of GlobalGiving, we were able to provide 30 girls, who regularly take part in our youth center activities, with a tablet that will allow them to participate in online classes. Having their own device will guarantee their attendance and improve their education during this unusual situation (and after). The girls and their parents took part in a workshop on responsible use of technology, organized by our team of social workers, to encourage the correct use of the tablets for educational purposes.
This acievement adds to the continued suppoort children have received from our youth center, which is made possible by your commitment with our cause. We are grateful for your engagement. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Eveli Leyva
