IAHPC hosted its first open-access webinar of 2025, “Changing the World One Country at a Time,” on January 17, at 2 p.m. UTC. The event featured four of our five Leadership Development Program (LEAD) institutional grantees. The institutions which were awarded the grants were:

  1. Mary Potter Hospice - Albania
  2. Groupe de Recherche et d’Actions Sociales GReAS - Burkina Faso
  3. Asociacion de Cuidados Paliativos de Colombia (ASOCUPAC) - Colombia
  4. Cancer Aid Society - India
  5. Zambia Medical Association - Zambia

During the webinar the representatives of the institutions presented their projects they worked on from 2022 through 2024 in their countries, related to leadership at specified levels of governance to:

  • Raise public and policymaker awareness about how basic palliative care services can prevent catastrophic out of pocket spending
  • Build alliances and partnerships with other professional and grassroots organizations to increase the support base for palliative provision
  • Improve access to essential palliative care medicines in the public health system
  • Include palliative care in professional education curricula
  • Implement services to improve access to palliative care treatment
  • Develop policies and/or implement existing policies at the national and sub-national levels
