Summary

Kids for Kids helps children and families in Darfur living in remote villages in the desert. The UN recently reported 30% of children are acutely malnourished. Many are starving now. We can help to stop this: Our simple grassroots projects - goat loans, donkeys, water from hand pumps, training midwives and first aid workers, providing blankets, mosquito nets, Kindergartens and more - lifts families out of desperate poverty and transforms the lives of whole communities. Please help.

Challenge

Drought, conflict and soaring inflation have combined so that mothers cannot feed their children. The outward sign of prolonged malnutrition - lack of protein in particular - is children's hair which should be black, bleached of all colour. The UN recently reported 30% of children are acutely malnourished. It is the smallest children who suffer first. This year all of the villages applying to be adopted are reporting tragic losses. We must act fast to prevent more children from starving.

Solution

Kids for Kids helps people to help themselves. We prevent problems from becoming catastrophes by providing a package of sustainable projects in each village including immediate Goat Loans for milk. There are already 92 Kids for Kids villages where there is no malnutrition and with your help we will adopt more in 2018. When healthcare is miles away across the open desert, when crops fail, when it is too dangerous to leave your village - then you - and your children - need help close by.

Long-Term Impact

"There is no malnutrition in Azargarfa" - Adam Sebil village leader, April 2013. Azargarfa was adopted in 2004. More families have received goats from our loans as they have been rotated from family to family every 2 years. The little flocks have transformed their lives. Our health care for both humans and animals has transformed lives. Children have fresh water to drink, food to eat, and the whole community has been transformed. People are moving there because they stand a better chance.
