"Will Mum or Dad ever come?"
They see newly made friends reunified with great joy with kinfolk... but no one comes for them. Are they part of the refugees in Sudan, are they injured in some health facility or (and we do try and hope not) are they dead? These are those who may just stay and be absorbed by the Grace Village as temporary members of the resident family.
The mothers, and big sisters, aunties have come for refuge after horrible trauma, as these women struggle to come to terms with their own trauma, it has been easier to house the older children of such women separately at the children's safe house, while the women folk as counselled and rest. The children can be dealt with by the team of counsellors working among the children.
It means providing a clean bed, water to wash and drink, food (bought with great expense and creativity) to eat. It means meeting others who have suffered as they have, chatting amongst themselves, receiving regular counselling, play time includes building with lego, playing football that all help towards gradual healing of children severaly traumatised and still hurting deeply, possibly the rest of their lives.
You dear donors, have helped us help these youngsters,
Thank you...
