The Future Factory sports programme at Rooikappie

Thank you very much for making such a difference in the lives of the children and young people at CHW's projects, by supporting them through our page on GlobalGiving!

Below are some updates on how your kindness has been helping.

Food programme and sports coaching in South Africa

Over the past few years, CHW's amazing supporters have been contributing towards the food programme that our partner organisation, The Future Factory, is involved with in Cape Town. Meals are given to children and families in various communities around the city.

The Future Factory also focuses on education through sports and we are very grateful to CHW's supporters who have been sponsoring its new sports coaching programme for children at various schools and a creche. We have included some photos of the children at Rooikappie Educare having a sports session.

Anne, the founder of The Future Factory, thanked CHW's supporters for their care and for all that they do for the children.

Food programme in Romania

We are thankful to all who support Refugiu's food programme in Romania, assisting children and families in two villages in Brasov County. The price of food has been increasing and we had needed more support to continue to assist with the food supplies this year. Thank you so much to each person who enables this vital programme to keep going.

Robert, the head of Refugiu, thanks all of CHW's supporters and said that your help brings the families a lot of joy.

Horse-assisted therapy sessions for a child with disabilities in Argentina

A big thank you to all who support this programme for children in Cordoba, Argentina. The school year recently started in Argentina and, in 2025, your help is sponsoring sessions for a teenage girl. She has been part of this programme before. This type of therapy brings so many physical and emotional benefits.

Verónica, the founder of this project, says that the girl and her family are so happy to have received this sponsorship and that the help of CHW's supporters makes a big difference!

Along with this report, we are sharing some photos from these projects. In addition, we are also sharing with you the greeting we sent out earlier this month for International Women's Day as both Anne and Verónica are featured, along with another photo from an education project in China. We thought it would be nice for you to see some of the people who run these projects for the children!

Thank you for making a difference for the children!

New tables at New Life's school, Ghana

We are incredibly grateful that you decided to support CHW's work through our page on GlobalGiving!

Below are some updates on what has been made possible because of your kindness and generosity.

New tables for a school in Ghana

New tables were needed for the youngest classes at New Life's school in Ghana. The school is called Newness. A big thank you to all who contributed towards the tables! This has made such a difference in the classrooms.

Derrick, the director of New Life, thanked everyone who helped.

We are also sharing with you a link to a video (below) showing the holiday school that New Life ran for the children.

Winter coats and boots, clothes and school supplies for children and teenagers in Romania

At the start of the new school year in September, your donations helped to make it possible to supply 12 children and teenagers, from two different villages, with stationery, school bags, clothes, shoes and socks. It was again possible to help the children and teenagers with winter coats and boots, before the harsh winter weather started in Romania.

Robert, the head of Refugiu, said that this winter shopping brought the children a lot of joy.

Educational materials for migrant children in China

Your support went towards resources for language, technology and social-emotional learning classes, delivered by Stepping Stones in Shanghai.

Here are some highlights from the social-emotional learning programme, sent to us by Teddy from Stepping Stones. This programme introduced a creative and structured way to help children manage their emotions and resolve conflicts peacefully. When two students almost had a conflict, they put their new knowledge about emotional regulation into practice. By using colourful "emotion thermometers", they were able to recognize their emotional levels and "cool down" before reacting.

Teddy wrote, "After a few rounds of games and role-playing, students were introduced to four steps for managing conflicts: "Pause, Talk, Think, and Try." This approach quickly became part of their daily interactions, and we saw firsthand how they applied these steps in real-life situations, resolving disagreements calmly and thoughtfully.

During an arts-based lesson, where children painted fans to represent their emotions, we witnessed a group disagreement being resolved with our volunteer's intervention. Using the skills they had learned, the children explained their feelings and found a peaceful solution. By the end of the activity, the conflict was forgotten, and the children proudly displayed their colorful creations, even complimenting each other's work.

[These programmes have] been a testament to the power of education in shaping brighter futures. Whether through language, technology, or emotional intelligence, your support has made it possible for us to enrich the lives of these children in meaningful ways. We are immensely grateful for your continued partnership, and together, we look forward to reaching even greater heights in the months to come."

Giving Tuesday and supporting schoolchildren in South Africa

On 3 December, it will be Giving Tuesday, a global day of doing good. Giving Tuesday always follows Black Friday and it is a time to focus on the spirit of generosity.

This will be a special day to make an impact, as GlobalGiving will be partially matching all donations from 5 am UK time. This campaign will last for 24 hours.

If you could take one action on Giving Tuesday, we would be so grateful if you could share this link with others!

The project supports ORT SA CAPE's teacher training programmes in South Africa, as this is a very effective way to improve the quality of education delivered to the children in the classrooms.

Just £22 sponsors a place for a teacher to attend a workshop. However, all donations will go extra far, as they will be partially matched by GlobalGiving!

The gift of a good education will make a life-long impact for a child!

Education programme at Stepping Stones, China

Thank you so much for supporting the children and young people at CHW's projects through our page on GlobalGiving! Below are some updates on the projects you have helped.

Food programmes in Ghana, Romania and South Africa

We are incredibly grateful that your donations could help the children and young people with food, which is such a basic and vital need.

Your contributions have helped two of our partner organisations which are involved with the distribution of food supplies. These are The Future Factory in South Africa and Refugiu in Romania.

The Future Factory, along with other organisations, helps to give food and meals to children and families in underprivileged areas across Cape Town.
Anne, the founder of The Future Factory expressed her gratitude for your help with "taking care of so many hungry and needy communities."

Refugiu regularly gives food supplies to families in two villages in Romania. Robert, the head of Refugiu, always reports back that he has been to give the food to the families each month and he says thank you to all who sponsor the supplies.

In addition to the usual food programmes that we support, four students being assisted by New Life in Ghana, also needed help with food supplies for the new semester and our supporters were able to help with this too.
Derrick, the director of New Life said that the students are happy to see this continued support from CHW, during their studies.

Education programme in China

Your contributions also helped with educational materials for Stepping Stones's programmes. This has been benefiting migrant children in Shanghai and children attending under-resourced schools in various provinces.

Teddy from Stepping Stones has let us know that more than 1,650 children are enrolled for the summer programme, which is currently taking place!

Teddy also said that on 29 and 30 June, Stepping Stones "held events such as volunteer exchange meetings, sessions for high school and university student volunteers, and new volunteer training for the summer."

The volunteers are using the teaching materials that our supporters have sponsored, which is making a real difference in these children's lives this summer!

Horse Assisted Therapy Project in Argentina

Over the past few years, CHW's supporters have sponsored sessions for a child with disabilities at our partner project in Argentina, which offers horse-assisted therapy programmes.

This year, your help is supporting an eight-year-old boy with Down Syndrome. His speech development has been delayed but he can now name the different parts of the horse and the horse-riding equipment! He is making great progress.
The founder of the project, Verónica, has thanked CHW's supporters for all their help over the years.

We thank each person who made it possible to support the children and young people at the different projects. Your help is making such a big difference in their lives.
