So many changes to come!

By Julia Krepska | Founding Director

2023 was an incredible year for Our Sansar - we managed to help more children, start new projects and also plan changes that will be needed for our work in the future.

Through our Children's Protection Programme (now called EmpowerHER: Rights, Protection and Hope) we directly helped 152 girls in Southern Nepal. We also delievered training on domestic violence and child marriage to 450 community members. In 2024 we are planning to increase these numbers even further.

We are now in the process of setting up 4 girls' clubs at local schools where the girls will have a variety of activities at least once a week. Apart from that, we will be starting our End to Child Marriage project in Janakpur and Rauthat where we will be providing education to girls who are either already married or those at risk of getting married early and out of school. After 8 months of our classes the girls will be either enrolled into a local school or onto vocational training, depending on their age, skills and interests.

Our tailoring trainer, Suja, has been doing short numeracy classes with our girls and young women from the local community on a daily basis, before starting the tailoring classes. After that short class, they learn basic tailoring skills and within the next few months we are planning to make reusable pads on a commercial scale to bring income to the most impoverished communities. We will keep you up to date.

We are so happy that all the girls staying with us are doing better and better - seeing the positive change in them makes our staff even more motivated to do more and more for them. This week two new girls from our Helpline will be joining the Janakpur safe house where they will receive all the necessary support before being linked with the family or a permanent children's home where this is not possible.

As always, thank you so much for all the support, none of this would have been possible without it!
