A new arrival at Maison de Benediction

Baby K

Children with disabilities in Haiti are some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in in the country, facing severe discrimination. Maison de Benediction at HCBH, our partner hospital in North Haiti provides life-transforming care for children with disabilities and their families.

Recently, the incredible team of carers and foster mothers at the Maison welcomed a new arrival - baby K.

K was abandoned at another hospital when she was just a few days old and had been moved around various organisations who have cared for her whilst searching for her forever home.

Eventually, we were able to bring K to MdB and put her in the loving care of her new foster mother. K has multiple medical diagnoses, which the team are learning more about to see if we can find the surgeries she needs.

Once she settled in with her new carers, K began physiotherapy sessions and has made incredible progress. She is now able to sit up independently and reach for toys with both hands. The other children at the Maison show her so much love and affection and have learnt that she loves to 'dance' - wiggling her body when they plan music.

Sadly, K's story is not unique and many children with disabilities in Haiti are abandoned, as their parents are unable to care for them.

Thank you for your ongoing support to the children and families of Maison de Benediction. Thanks to your donations, we can continue to provide life transforming care to children with disabilities just like K.

Thank you.
