Powerful New Film

By Tim Holmes | Fundraising Coordinator

Ruth
Ruth

As part of our new push for more Beni Sponsors, we have an amazing new film which you may have seen on our social media channels. If you haven’t seen it, or you’d like to share it with others, click below:

One of the children featured in the film is called Ruth. She is 8 years old and started coming to the Maison this year, making her one of our newest kids. Thankfully, she is part of a loving family, but Ruth has several severe disabilities affecting her movement, sight, hearing, and she also suffers from epileptic seizures. Her mother provides for their family by selling things on the street, and sometimes had to leave Ruth alone while she worked - a sad reality for many Haitian parents.

The severity of Ruth's disabilities mean she is at risk of injuring herself without constant supervision. So when Ruth’s mother discovered the Maison, it seemed a perfect fit for their situation.

Now Ruth attends the Maison when her mother needs to work. She is always smiling and laughing there, and loves the music and dancing. Her mother is also very happy that Ruth is getting the care she needs when she can’t be there for her.

Ruth faces many big challenges ahead but for now, she is receiving the support and care she needs, and has the chance to develop and interact with other children - something many children with disabilities in Haiti don’t get.

The new film is part of a set of new resources recently launch to help find more 'Beni Sponsors' - the special group of people who donate monthly and provide the foundation of funding for the Maison's important work.

Thank you for supporting this project.
