Little Steps & Well-earned Relaxation

By Tim Holmes | Fundraising Coordinator

You may remember us introducing you to a little girl who arrived at the Maison around a year ago, named here as Baby K? She was abandoned as a baby with several birth defects. After being passed around several other homes and orphanages she was taken in at the Maison and now has a loving foster family. She is a happy smiling girl and has even received the first surgeries she needs to fix some of her health issues. In recent weeks, Baby K has started to take her first steps unaided  - we're up to 3 at the last count! We have high hopes that Baby K will continue her journey to overcoming the desperate start to life that she endured. She's certainly in the right place to receive the love and care that she needs.

Life at the Maison carries on as normal. The foster mother's group meet regularly to discuss their challenges and achievements encouraging each other and receiving support from Brooke. We're also at the time of year where the Maison kids will be helping to design the HHA Christmas cards by creating their own Christmas crafts and paintings. It's always a highlight of the year to see what they've come up with.

Approaching the end of another busy and challenging year, the staff deserved a bit of relaxation and team building time. They went as a group to one of North Haiti's beautiful beaches travelling by bus and boat to reach the secluded paradise. Haiti does have some amazing places and the staff have more than earned their day at the beach.

Thank you so much for supporting this unique project. Everyone at the Maison thanks you too!
