The ongoing crisis in Haiti means that nearly five million Haitians, almost half the population, are going hungry, with over 760,000 children facing food insecurity. Tragically, it is estimated that in 2024, there was a 19% increase in the number of children suffering from severe acute malnutrition. The growing inflation and shortages make it also harder to access basic resources. In this already difficult context, children with disabilities are among the most vulnerable - often unable to access the essential services they need, and even more at risk of hunger and health complications. This is why your support of Maison de Grace is so important.
Over the past few months we have focused on improving both the nutritional support and overall wellbeing of the children in our care, including providing families with ‘Manna Pack Rice’—a fortified rice blend designed to combat nutritional deficiencies. From purchasing kitchen supplies to securing clothes, hygiene kits, and beds, your support has helped us to ensure these children receive the care they need to grow and thrive at a crucial stage of their development.
Looking ahead, we are planning to provide monthly nutrition education sessions to carers, and physical resources to help them feed their children at home. To help create sustainable improvements in nutrition, we are also working towards equipping the families with seeds and training to enable them to grow their own vegetables, providing carers with the tools and understanding they need to improve their family's health and nutrition in the long term.
We can’t wait to share more updates with you! Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
