The project, initiated by Mission Bambini in 2005, aims to reduce mortality among children with congenital or acquired heart diseases in low-income countries. We work towards this goal by organizing medical missions with volunteer doctors in these countries: Africa (Eritrea, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia) - Asia (Nepal) - Europe (Albania, Kosovo). The program focuses on three main strategies: LIFE-SAVING CARDIAC SURGERY, CAPACITY BUILDING AND TRAINING, PREVENTION. Goal 2025: to save 82 children.
Every day, in different corners of the world, many children are born with serious heart problems that threaten their survival. An estimated eight out of every 1,000 newborns suffer from congenital heart defects. Without urgent surgery, their life chances are minimal, and without access to adequate care, their future remains uncertain and risky.
To address this issue, we organize monthly medical missions with volunteer doctors to provide life-saving support in various countries. These missions focus on 3 pillars: Life-Saving Cardiac Surgery - performing essential heart surgeries on children to improve survival chances. Capacity Building and Training - equipping local medical staff for independent care. Prevention - conducting screenings and follow-ups for better long-term outcomes. Our goal is lasting impact on pediatric heart care.
The Children's Heart Program focuses on strengthening local healthcare systems by training doctors to manage pediatric heart conditions independently. Through regular missions, volunteer doctors share skills with local teams, ensuring high-quality care. By empowering local staff, we improve treatment for children and support long-term healthcare development, helping communities address medical challenges sustainably.
