Millet farmers from USA meet with our women farmer
Millet farmers from USA meet with our women farmer

In the world of agriculture, there are discoveries, new techniques and new learnings every year. Farmers from rural areas do not have access to this information and knowledge. We at the Mann Deshi Foundation are working to change that. By providing training to women farmers on how to make fodder and artificial insemination for animal husbandry to a to meet and interact with Millet farmers from the USA, we aim to provide exposure, skills training and expertise to women to become leaders in agriculture and climate change.

Workshop on training and the importance of silage: The Mann Deshi team provided information on the making of silage, the importance of silage to the cattle, the impact on the milk, and the economy of farmers. Additionally, Mann Deshi will also inform the importance of millet silage and how millet silage is necessary for farmers in drought. Once the silage was prepared Mann Deshi team guided how to use storage bags and infrastructure, and the guidelines for the time silage can be kept. Farmers were also guided on how the silage should be fed and how much to feed the cows.

Workshop on the importance and benefits of artificial insemination (AI): Mann Deshi Team provided information to women farmers on different types of breeds of cows and buffaloes, their milk yields, how AI is used in different countries for cross-breeding, the upcoming research in AI to allow control over gender of the new offspring and what are the dos and don'ts.

As a part of the capacity-building workshops, we have trained over 1000 women farmers from the Satara District.
