In rural Malawi, women play a crucial role in food production, yet often lack access to resources, training, and markets. The Women Lead Food Security project empowers women to take charge of their food security, improving nutrition, income, and community resilience. Through training, community gardens, and support for women-led agribusinesses, we're enhancing food availability and accessibility, and fostering economic growth.
Objectives:
- Train 100 women in sustainable farming practices
- Establish community gardens for year-round produce
- Support women-led agri businesses
Progress & Impact:
- 120 women trained in climate-smart agriculture
- 5 community gardens established, benefiting 500 households
- Women-led businesses launched, generating income and improving food access
Challenges & Lessons:
Adapting to climate change and accessing markets remain challenges. We've learned the importance of community engagement and partnerships.
