Many women in rural Nigeria lack access to basic health care. Maternal deaths remain high-estimated at 512 per 100,000 live births. This project will train local health workers, provide clean birth kits, and support mobile care in underserved villages. With community involvement, we can improve access to reliable care for pregnant women and young mothers in isolated areas.
In many parts of rural Nigeria, women do not have access to safe clinics, trained birth attendants, or basic health services. This leads to preventable deaths during childbirth, untreated infections, and delays in getting help. Long travel distances, poverty, and lack of trained staff make care out of reach for most women in these areas.
We will train 1,000 community health workers, distribute clean birth kits, and run mobile care teams. These teams will visit villages regularly to provide check-ups, referrals, and safe deliveries. Local training means more women can get help nearby, without having to travel far or wait for emergency care.
This project will build a network of trained local health workers who continue to serve their communities. It will help reduce delays in care and prevent maternal deaths. With time, more women will trust and use these services, creating stronger community-based health support that lasts beyond this project cycle.
