Closing the Emissions Gap: A Climate Action Roadmap for Limiting Warming to 1.5 Degrees C. It is unacceptable for people to continue suffering the impacts of climate change around the world. Governments, public and private sectors continuous to hold climate talks and this are not enough. We need to act now through concrete climate actions without giving any excuses. In 2022, the world recorded a number of disasters in the USA, Pakistan, Cameroon and many others, which claimed hundreds of lives.
Climate change have a devastating potential on the livelihood, health and well-being of the under-served population In Cameroon, especially farmers that depends on natural resources and agriculture for their livelihood. Cameroon has recently experienced decline in agriculture productivity, increased poor health outcome linked to flood, drought, hurricane, heat and rising sea levels which are all outcomes of climate change. Over 3million people have been affected by climate change in region.
I.A.A will take a bold action to protect and restore ecosystems in the Northwest Region of Cameroon by reducing deforestation and mangrove loss through tree planting and organizing climate meetings on dangers of deforestation, importance of regenerative agriculture and ecosystems conservation in Cameroon. I.A.A will work with women and children of all ages to accelerate forest conservation efforts, by planting trees in water catchments, Oku forest and other nature reserve areas in the region.
The project will restore over 200 ha of degraded land and save at least 1000 tons of CO2 through planting 150,000 trees by 2030. It is expected that through this initiative, 10000 farmers will be able to adapt and respond to climate shocks in the food sector, while building a strong climate stewardship for a community of diverse indigenous and ethnic groups and help build social cohesion for a peaceful living.
