INSTRUCTORS ARE READY FOR ON-LINE CODING COURSES
By Guldal Ebeoglu | CYDD Headquarters Project Division
On-line training material for course instructors
Dear Donor,
We will be starting our on-line computer coding education program by the end of February after the midterm break.
On January 23-24th we had our on-line instructor trainings with 199 participants who will be carrying out the on-line coding program using the new on-line curriculum.
We are still accepting student applications for the on-line courses from all the CYDD branches that previously held face to face courses and expect about 400-500 students to attend these courses.
To summarize our activities so far:
During the 2019 summer-2020 fall period (before the pandemic),we had 73 coding classes in 49 locations with 180 instructors and trained 585 students in computer coding.
Since the beginning of the project in 2016, 2551 students have profited from the program with the help of 499 active instructors in 66 locations.
Kind respects,
course instructors on a zoom training

ONLINE CODING COURSES START IN NOVEMBER
By Guldal Ebeoglu | CYDD Headquarters Project Division
Bolu 2019-2020 course before Covid-19 lockdown
Dear donor,
The school year 2020-2021 started with many uncertainties. Primary school first grade students started face-to-face education and go to school twice a week and rest of the students try to follow on-line courses.
We were hoping to start our face-to-face computer coding program in November, but following Ministry of Education’s decision to continue distance learning, we also decided to go online at least for the first school term.
We are in the process of getting our platform ready using either Amazon or Azure cloud. Courses will be given by our trainers live on Zoom + Teams Pro and for sustainability we will record the sessions using Open EDX.
We plan to start our online courses third week of November and will give you more info in our next report. During the pandemic the world is becoming more digital and the importance of our computer coding program is now recognized by more people.
Kind regards,
Yalova 2019-2020 course before Covid-19 lockdown

GETTING READY FOR THE FALL TERM
By Guldal Ebeoglu | Project Division
Coding course in Kars
Dear donor,
We have started our winter 2020 program with much energy and with 7 new centers where we would teach coding to many more children.
In January we purchased 80 new laptop computers and delivered them to Pendik, Uskudar, Gaziosmanpasa and Atasehir branches in Istanbul, to Düzce near Istanbul, to Seferihisar and Usak in the west, to Konya in Central Anatolia, to Çukurova and Alanya in the south and to Van in far east of Turkey. We gave instructor trainings to trainer candidates from Usak, Düzce, Konya and Van in February . Then in March the Covid-19 pandemic started and forced us to stop all our coding courses as schools also closed and physical contact among students was not advisable.
In the meantime we prepared two webinars for our branch coordinators and course instructors. Our first webinar in April was on "classroom management and skills for communicating with children" and the second webinar in May focused on the "Kodlamaca- computer coding program and volunteering".
We intend to start our courses once schools open in August or September.
We hope we all will stay healthy and well during these unusual times. We will be telling you more about the restart of our program according to the new normals in our next report..
Stay safe..
Kind regards,
Kodlamaca webinar 2
