Dear donor,
CYDD organized a computer coding workshop for the Children Festival held in Abbasaga Park on Sunday August 12.
During the one day festival 100 children from ages 5.5 to 15 were introduced to computer coding with 7 volunteer trainers from CYDD “Kodlamaca” team and 14 laptop computers brought and installed in the park by the team. One coding introduction session lasted 40 minutes and one trainer controlled two children and two computers per session.
The children were introduced to algorithmic thinking through a “pop the balloon” game and were then shown the stages of the game and were given a chance to code part of it. The aim of the workshop activity was to get children interested in the making of games and not just playing the games.
The children had great fun and most of them wanted to attend the CYDD Kodlamaca Computer Coding program in a CYDD branch in the winter.
We were also happy to learn that the math grades of the computer coding program participants at school have increased at least 1 grade. Parents are now encouraging their children to enroll to the higher level courses and more demand is coming from friends who learn about their success.
This means that more computers are needed to start courses in other CYDD branches and we rely on your donations.
Thank you for believing in us and supporting our Project.
