Summary

The rural areas of District Muzaffargarh and Faisalabad, 80% of the population is not sensitized of the basic computer literacy and in the females it is even worse. Majority of the Government schools in the rural areas of Muzaffargarh and Faisalabad does not consider and offer computer education. The project has been designed with the purpose of providing computer literacy (10 months training) to the poor and school dropout girls of District Muzaffargarh and Faisalabad to meet current trends.

Challenge

In rural areas of Muzaffargarh and Faisalabad,64 % males are literate, compared to only 40% females (UNESCO Report).The School dropout percentage in these districts is 18-22 % (ASER Report 2013) which means that every 5th child (boy or girl) is a school dropout.Majority of the Government schools in the rural areas do not offer computer education or any modern program for primary and middle education.So even if a girl reaches to this this level of school education she is not been taught about it.

Solution

The project has been designed with the purpose of providing computer literacy (10 months training) to the poor and school dropout girls of District Muzaffargarh and Faisalabad to meet current trends.The project will solve the dire need of provision of computer literacy to the young girls to take a step forward towards changing their lives.The project will be implemented in 8 marginalized rural areas of both districts where the ratio of the school dropout girls will be the highest.

Long-Term Impact

- Increased literacy level of young girls will significantly improve their living style and pull them out of the inferiority complex and marginalization. - Skill enhancement will open new economic door for the young girls and make them able to contribute in their family incomes. - Improved financial situation will also enhance their social status in the society - Enhanced information and awareness level of the young girls and community will help them be at leadership positions.
