Computer literacy for 400 poor Pakistani girls

This project aims to improve digital literacy among the unskilled, school, and college dropout girls in the marginalized rural and semi-urban areas of Faisalabad, which is alarmingly low (1%) in approximately 70% of the country.

Through the established computer training center, 19 girls recently completed their certification from AWARD through a ceremony that took place in Faisalabad. They now aim to look for better opportunities and have taken steps to improve their skills by enrolling in digital earning sessions. The basic computer literacy taught by AWARD has proven to be a foundational and vital step for them to improve their socioeconomic condition and also to become part of the market trend.

AWARD also aims to open up more computer literacy centers in the rural areas of Punjab to make digital literacy known and practiced among women in rural communities. This could only be possible if the technology is exposed to the community.

Unfortunately, the project has not garnered the desired donations so far in recent quarters; the amount collected thus far is not sufficient to initiate new digital learning centers in the areas. However, through some fundraising from other sources, AWARD Pakistan has managed to initiate its first computer literacy center in Faisalabad, which is working to improve skill-based learning among the poor marginalized girls in District Faisalabad.
