Digital Literacy for Unskilled girls

By Azeem Christopher | Project Leader

Three-Month Progress Report: Digital Literacy for Unskilled Women

In the first three months, AWARD Pakistan successfully enrolled 20 girls in its Digital Literacy for Unskilled Women program in rural Faisalabad. These participants, primarily unskilled and school dropouts, undergo six-month intensive training to equip them with essential digital skills.

Training sessions are conducted daily, covering MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet browsing, email usage, typing, printing, software installations, social media management, and AI basics. Each class concludes with a daily test to reinforce the day's lesson, and presentations are held regularly to boost confidence.

Success Story – In Catherine’s Words

My name is Catherine. I am 19 years old and live in a small Christian community near Faisalabad. I dropped out of school after grade 7 because my family could not afford the expenses. Before joining this program, I had never even touched a computer. I used to think computers were only for the rich or city people.

When I joined AWARD’s Digital Literacy Program, I was nervous. On the first day, I didn’t know how to even switch on the computer. But our teacher was kind and patient. In the first three months, I’ve learned how to type, write simple documents in MS Word, use the mouse properly, and even open and send emails. I’ve also learned to search for things on the internet, which has opened a new world for me.

Now I help my younger siblings with schoolwork, and I feel confident for the first time. A door has opened for me that I never knew existed—now, I’m ready to walk through it.
