For three years, Afghan girls over grade 6 have been prohibited from attending school in Afghanistan. The U.N. estimates that the ban has impacted 1.4 million girls. Additionally, the number of girls and boys enrolled in primary school has dropped by over one million.
The new school year is set to begin in March and unless the ruling is reversed, it will be the start of the fourth year where girls in middle school, high school, and college are prohibited from studying.
AAFF is grateful to support Afghan girls during this critical time. Recently, 110 students completed the three-month computer training course.
Students in our computer training classes are eager to learn and ask for other educational opportunities. Unfortunately, the complex situation in Afghanistan does not make this possible right now but we are grateful for the opportunity to train and empower the bright students with computer skills.
The parents of our students are also grateful for the opportunity for their girls.
One father recently said,
"In my opinion, the computer course is very essential in today's era, as computers are vital tools. Our children are the future builders of this nation. As a father, I am pleased that my child continues learning through educational courses like this. I am confident that most parents are satisfied and happy with the creation of such courses as they support the education of their children."
Thank you very much for your partnership to empower Afghan girls during this critical point in their history.
