2023 was a great year of growth for our digital education project, which Fabretto is implementing alongside local partner BAYAN and schools in Honduras. We equipped and trained teachers at 27 rural schools across three departments in Honduras, reaching a total of 82 teachers and more than 1,400 youth with access to digital resources in the classroom!
The teachers who've participated in the project filled out a survey at the end of 2023, and it has provided valuable insight for improvement this year. The teachers emphasize that students are very motivated by the use of tech in the classroom and that the most useful "channels" within the Kolibri platform have been Khan Academy - to strengthen mathematics skills - and Fabretto's own channel, which provides contents aligned to the curriculum. They also mentioned some key challenges, like the need for technical support and support with strengthening their skills.
This year, we're planning to expand the project to at least 9 more schools in the first semester. We're also developing resources to help teachers, including an interactive manual and video tutorials, and creating a "tech support" WhatsApp channel. In March, Fabretto will begin the next round of teacher training.
Thank you for your support of this project, which is enhancing access to STEM education for youth in rural Honduras!
