Seguimos avanzando y transformando realidades

By Staff | OSCASI

In OSCASI we continue to work towards providing opportunities for our children and community members in Petare, through different alternatives that allow them to develop their abilities. Additionally, we continue to assist our children in their health and nutrition requirements.

In March, we had a dental campaign in the Alternative Schools with the support of volunteer dental moms who were responsible for dental cleaning for all students and extractions for those who needed them. The more serious cases were attended to later in the dental clinics. Additionally, Colgate supported us with oral hygiene talks and donated toothbrushes and toothpaste, ensuring the oral hygiene of our students after every meal consumed at school.

We closed March with our highly expected "Verbena de las Verbenas," our main and largest fundraising event. A Sunday full of music and food to celebrate the OSCASI's 65 years and to come together as a family. Our 165 children from OSCASI also enjoyed the verbena, food, and attractions; they are the true protagonists of that day.

On the other hand, we continue to address different important health matters for our children. Starting in April, seven OSCASI students who are in a state of malnutrition began a three-month program to receive the nutritional supplements they require for a gradual increase in the number of calories consumed. This was thanks to an alliance with the organization Prepara Familia, in their program “Ponteporonte."

Also, in May, with our allies AVESSOC, we held a new health campaign where blood samples were taken and both students and administrative personnel of OSCASI were examined. Health Care days allow us to follow up on cases of malnutrition or any other medical issue that requires special attention.

In May, our sixth-grade students had several important activities. They enjoyed a morning at Ezequiel Zamora - El Calvario park, with a guided tour. It was a morning full of history and outdoor fun. Also, as part of their social labor project, they visited the Casa Hogar San Judas Tadeo, where they spent the day accompanying the elderly, playing, dancing, and giving them love. We want our children to develop that side of service and help to others and understand that we can all give a smile with small daily gestures from and small acts of kindness.

Our sixth-grade students are preparing to graduate from OSCASI and continue their education in the regular educational system. At OSCASI, we are committed to the development of communities and the transformation of realities, which is why we continue to focus on providing our children with the best comprehensive education so that they leave our schools prepared with the necessary tools to continue their studies and enter the workforce."
