Dear project supporters,
Proper hand hygiene is one of the simplest and important ways to prevent and control the spread of germs and viruses, especially now when the world is battling with the Covid-19 pandemic; clean hands can save lives. Developing countries like Sierra Leone have inadequate water-supply systems as most of the people don’t have access to tap water in their homes.
As part of Develop Africa's intervention response in the fight against the Covid-19 crisis and thanks to generous donors like you, two hands-free washing stations were recently set up at two schools: Hope Academy for Girls at York Village and the Dantrimark Academy at Waterloo.

The design of the mobile hand's fee washing is essential to limit cross-contamination between hand washers. The main components of the system entail: a water tank with a holding capacity of 200 Liters and a sink that holds the water and direct it into another third component which is the wastewater holding bucket and on the right side is a sub dispensable unit and on the left, a tap and are both operated by foot.
Both heads of the two schools were very thankful for the donations, according to them the hands-free washing station will serve them for long period and that it was a dream come true. Their students will no longer have the challenge of having to fetch water on a daily basis.
Thank you for helping to meet this important practical need. We greatly appreciate your continued support in saving lives and stopping the spread of COVID-19/coronavirus.
Stay healthy and safe,
Amy and the Develop Africa Team
