COVID-19 is disrupting the lives and livelihood of lives in Sierra Leone. In response, we are targetting key areas. These include cleanliness education/sensitization, radios so kids can listen to educational broadcasts, provision of masks, soap, food items to alleviate hunger/crisis impact, and pregnancy prevention for teenage girls. This response is based on the successes and the lessons that we learned during our involvement in the Ebola Epidemic. We stand together. Together we will win.
The fallout and side-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have devastated the lives of families in Sierra Leone. Impoverished families are struggling now more than ever to put food on the table. Children are at risk of dropping out of school. Vulnerable families are unable to afford cloth masks to help keep themselves safe from getting sick with the Coronavirus. Kids are unable to listen to educational radio broadcasts because they do not have radios or batteries.
Our response targets key areas of need such as providing food to families in need, providing soap and veronica buckets to create handwashing stations, mask distribution to vulnerable populations and people who are not able to afford masks are helping to stop the spread of COVID-19 and the radios to ensure that kids are able to stay in school through radio broadcasted lessons when needed.
Lives will be saved from sickness and death from the coronavirus. A healthier population will ease the burden on local healthcare resources and hospitals. Our sensitization and provision of soap, masks, etc is ensuring that beneficiaries are safe and empowered to take responsibility for their health and future success. And helping provide families with food provisions including rice, onions, and oil.
