The Amadeu Antonio Foundation supports victims of antisemitic, racist, and far-right violence, funds grassroots democracy projects across Germany, and conducts research into the roots of extremism as well as hatred and violence against marginalized groups. Through media work, our own journalistic platform, and educational programs, we ensure that these issues remain visible in public discourse and are addressed by political decision-makers.
In Germany, antisemitism, racism, and right-wing extremism are on the rise. In 2024 alone, far-right crimes increased by more than 48%. Far-right parties are gaining power, threatening democratic values. Civil society groups, especially in rural areas, face attacks and declining government support. Many lack the resources to defend human rights or support those affected by hate. Without help, vital voices risk being silenced and democratic spaces eroded.
The Amadeu Antonio Foundation responds with a nationwide strategy: supporting victims of far-right violence through direct aid funds, funding grassroots democracy initiatives, and offering education, training, and media outreach. We research extremism, advise policymakers, and counter hate through journalism and digital tools-ensuring that civil society in Germany stays strong, visible, and empowered to resist.
By investing in local alliances, supporting inclusive narratives, and strengthening democratic education, the Foundation builds long-term resilience across German society. Our work creates safe spaces, amplifies marginalized voices, and protects democratic values from erosion. Over time, this leads to stronger communities that actively counter hate, defend human rights, and ensure a future where solidarity prevails over exclusion and fear.
