Summary

Skills Link Uganda empowers local communities in Uganda with practical (hands on) skills to enable them rise out of poverty and sustain themselves. During this time, we are focusing on stopping the spread of of Corona Virus by providing; food, sanitizers, masks, soap and hand washing buckets to 200 vulnerable households in Uganda. With the current lockdown, curfew, businesses have closed down. So the majority of these people have lost their means of livelihood and are not able to make ends meet

Challenge

Covod19 Corona Virus is causing a lot of pain to entire population all over the world. Thousands of innocent people are dying due to this pandemic and the number of infected people are increasing day by day like wild fire. Poor marginalized and nomadic people lack hygiene kits, foods & other basic needs due to financial constraints. As a result, they suffer from adverse effects and their life becomes a total confusion with no one to help.

Solution

We shall provide the selected families with basic food supplies like; maize flour, beans and sugar. We shall also provide them with sanitizers, hand washing buckets, face masks and soap. Corona virus - Awareness campaigns will also be conducted in communities. We shall sensitize these families about the virus, how it spreads and possible ways we can avoid it as guided by the the ministry of health of the Republic of Uganda These are the very argent needs.

Long-Term Impact

We are gathering basic food supplies and cleaning supplies for the most vulnerable families at the moment. We hope that by supporting them, we will be able to reduce their need to look for informal jobs to survive and their risk of getting infected by the virus. Our aim is to see that they remain at home and have food, cleaning supplies or medicines, to be safe and have their dignity. As they wait for further directives from the government.
