India has recovered from the devastating effects of COVID-19, but the pandemic has ravaged the lives of people in southern Rajasthan, where the average daily income is less than $0.70 (Rs. 52). Initially, we provided temporary support to these families by distributing relief kits and arranging medical facilities. Now, we are focusing on long-term sustainable measures. Your donation will help create lasting opportunities for these rural communities through various livelihood activities.
Many villagers who were working outside returned to their villages during the 2020 lockdown. Most of them are still facing financial difficulties which is also adding to their social stress. This trend is not unique to our area; it reflects a broader issue faced by rural communities across India in the post-pandemic era. With limited opportunities for employment and a heavy reliance on agriculture, rural areas struggle to provide sustainable livelihoods for residents.
We are linking people with livelihood programs and other opportunities, which will help them secure a stable income, long-term benefits, and enhance their well-being. We regularly interact with village communities to identify and solve their problems. The intervention will build the capacities of farmers in advanced farming techniques, leading to an enhancement of their income. Better well-being and higher income will help them sustain and emerge from poverty.
We have been working in southern Rajasthan for the last 56 years and understand the challenges that the local communities continue to face. Our approach of dealing with the economic fallout of Post Covid is based on the immediate and long term needs of these communities. We are working on providing livelihood opportunities to local residents.
