Aarogya Seva in collaboration with the Government of Karnataka proposes the commissioning of two refurbished, medically equipped, 9 bed quarantine buses and an ambulance with a ventilator system for the sole transportation and in transit SOS treatment of Covid - 19 patients and suspected cases from the source location to a secure medical facility for the city of Bangalore, Karnataka.
In the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is estimated that India is currently functioning at a ratio of 0.5 hospital beds per 1000 individuals, factoring in the growth of confirmed cases by the day, India's current healthcare infrastructure will be overwhelmed by the end of April and out of beds by June. The bus will provide hard to reach community members with access to healthcare as well as prevent spreading.
The mobile unit will provide a broader scope of access to medical facilities to roughly 5,000 individuals in marginalized communities over the course of 3 months that don't have the transportation means to reach medical attention. The mobile unit will provide an additional avenue to continuously treat and prevent the further spread of COVID-19. After the pandemic, the unit will be used as an ambulance and mobile medical unit to continuing providing healthcare to vulnerable populations.
