In the interest of fulfilling and furthering the goal of the project titled 'Covid: Feed 145 families living in Bangalore slums', Ashwini Charitable Trust (ACT) is pleased to announce that our striving is stronger than ever.
The spirited and synergistic efforts of our sponsors, donors, volunteers, mothers, senior students and supporters have led to the triumph of the methodical and uninterrupted distribution of food provisions and other essentials to the families of Ashwini Charitable Trust. This practice which began in the wake of the pandemic has gained ground despite the rapid buildout of the Omicron variant; and in January 2022, the number of families that we were able to distribute provisions to rose to 210. Each family received a Provision kit which contained:
. Rice - 20 kgs
. Wheat flour - 2 kgs
. Toor dal - 2 kgs
. Masoor dal - 2 kgs
. Sugar - 2 kgs
. Oil - 3 L
. Vermicelli packet - 825 g
. Groundnuts - 500 g
. Tea leaves - 500 g
. Mustard seeds - 200 g
. Dhaniya powder - 200 g
. Chilli powder - 200 g
. Jeera powder - 200 g
. Instant noodles - 550 g × 2
Additionally, we were able to organise for the distribution of Hygiene Kits containing:
. Masks
. Hand sanitizer
. Antibacterial liquid soap (including a refill pack of the same)
. Antibacterial bar soaps
Ashwini Charitable Trust is exceedingly grateful to all those who have played a part in making these distribution drives a success!
In order to cater to the growing need of academic support to students coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, ACT has equipped 82 of its families with digital devices, including a monthly prepaid internet recharge pack of rupees 300. This is done to allow the children to participate in the online classes arranged for by us. Students are paired up with volunteers who coach them; focusing on foundational English and fundamental Mathematics. The older students are also engaged with online Science classes and offline Computer classes. In this manner, there is an attempt to level the playing field for the children living in the urban slums of Bangalore, while directing our efforts to include their comprehensive development.
We, at ACT, would like to extend our heartfelt and sincere gratitude each and everyone who has helped make this possible! The expression of this gratitude will be reflected in our efforts as we strive to do our best for those in need; remaining mindful of the miles ahead.
