This project aims to help over 500 families of the most vulnerable affected by the COVID19 pandemic in Namibias capital city Windhoek. We will provide people who live in informal settlements with food packages (including corn flour, pasta, rice, canned beans, sugar, veggies). Wadadee Cares e.V. is a well established NGO and has previously conducted food relief package initiatives in and around Windhoek (Pictures attached).
A lot of people in Namibia have already not been able to provide their families with daily needs before the outbreak of COVID-19 but the situation in Namibia came to a head and many people are in need of urgent support. Many families (often consisting of 6 individuals or more) have lost their jobs and only source of income as a result of the strict lockdown measures implemented in Namibia, due to COVID-19. Growing hunger is a stark reality facing many communities.
With the funds raised from this project we will be able to provide immediate emergency support, by handing out compact food packages. We can support individuals and families to get through this crisis. The logistics are in place to start the food relief project immediately!
This is a short-term food donation project, we would like to support families who were already in need of support before the outbreak of the pandemic but are now even struggling more to provide their families with food. We hopefully can lighten the burden on their shoulders for the moment while the country works to get the economy back going.
