We are hugely grateful to you all our donors for your sacrifice towards this project, it is your support that makes it possible for us to continue reaching marginalized and vulnerable people with the necessary help they need. While we wait for more funds to arrive in our account, our dedicated team of volunteers is closely following the Covid-19 vaccination rates and they are reaching out to grassroots communities with education about the efficacy of the vaccine via SMS to counter vaccine misinformation. This digital health education exercise has so far reached 200 people in rural and remote areas of Mutoko rural district of Zimbabwe (our target location) where there is very limited access to primary health care. Demand is being generated and now there is need to ensure accessibility of the vaccine for all vulnerable populations. Mutoko district has set a target to vaccinate at least 60% of its residents to achieve herd immunity, currently the district is at 49%, this highlights the need for more vaccination outreach activities to ensure that everyone has some level of protection against future variants.
We cannot overemphasize the importance of this project and we are very grateful for the opportunity and platform provided to us by GlobalGiving to mobilize the much needed resources. We will continue to monitor developments on the ground and supply you with updates as well as success stories arising from this project.
