At Chico Housing Action Team (CHAT), fresh starts are at the heart of everything we do. Over the past year, with the support of our community, we’ve made meaningful progress toward our mission of providing safe, affordable housing paired with the supportive services people need to remain housed.
In the past year, CHAT successfully housed more than 200 individuals, helping neighbors transition out of homelessness and into stability. Through our permanent supportive housing model, residents receive not only a place to live, but also case management, food support, and connections to essential services that help them rebuild their lives.
Our programs continue to grow in both reach and impact. CHAT now operates dozens of housing units across Chico, including community-based villages and scattered-site homes, while also providing thousands of supportive services annually. Residents like those at Everhart Village and Hope Village benefit from consistent housing, on-site support, and a strong sense of community.
Beyond housing, CHAT’s Food Program delivered tens of thousands of pounds of donated food to residents this year, ensuring people had access to nutritious meals during a time of rising costs and reduced benefits. Seasonal efforts, such as our holiday Giving Tree, brought moments of dignity and joy to families and individuals—many of whom had not received a gift in years.
Volunteer engagement has also been a key success. Community members supported CHAT by leading workshops, providing meals, organizing furniture donations, and helping with major events. These efforts not only strengthen our programs but foster meaningful connections between housed and unhoused neighbors.
Looking ahead, CHAT is preparing for an exciting year. We are advancing new housing developments, sharing construction progress at Builders Village, celebrating Everhart Village’s two-year anniversary, and welcoming new and returning Board members who help guide our work. Each milestone reflects our commitment to long-term solutions and a healthier Chico.
Thanks to supporters like you, CHAT continues to turn compassion into action—creating fresh starts, stable homes, and stronger futures for our community.
